Supporting & Empowering our Community, with Love

Food Bank

We opened one of the first Foodbanks in Newport and have provided food parcels to the homeless and vulnerable people ever since. More recently, we have become part of The Trussell Trust network of Foodbanks across the UK, and work in partnership with the Newport Foodbank to overcome food poverty in our city.

We know that anyone can reach crisis point. When that happens we are here to provide a food parcel and friendly support. We also seek to empower people to find longer term solutions, such as how to shop and cook on a budget, signposting to help with debt, or confidence building and training to enhance employability.

Who We Are

We started life as the mission of Stow Park Church, who had the vision to build and open the community centre to serve the people of Newport, in 2010. In 2014 we became a charitable Incorporated organisation and continued with the mission to provide facilities to benefit the public, in order to relieve poverty and any other disadvantage due to youth, old age, ill health, disability, unemployment or social deprivation.

Welcome is at the heart of who we are. We seek to be a community where all can belong, feel valued, find opportunities, grow and flourish.

We are also committed to other organisations who serve the community in different ways. We hire inexpensive space to them in our large hall, or smaller rooms to conduct their own meetings in support of local people.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to support and empower those in need in our community, by providing practical help and training, as well as emotional and spiritual support, in the context of a loving community.
